What can you bring into the STSC exam room?
Bring a valid government photo ID and very little else. The STSC is closed book, and the only calculator in the room is an on-screen TI-30XS.

What goes with you to the test center
- A valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID with your signature
- The name on that ID matching your BCSP record and your Exam Authorization Letter exactly
- Your appointment confirmation emails, which BCSP asks you to keep until the exam is over
- Enough time to arrive early: a late arrival can forfeit the exam fee
- No notes, books or calculator for the exam itself, since it is closed book
Inside the testing room
Items appear one at a time. You click an answer to pick it and click again to change it. Before the exam starts there is a tutorial, and BCSP recommends doing it.
Any arithmetic happens on the on-screen TI-30XS. If you have never used that model, spend ten minutes with its layout before test day so the keystrokes are not new under the clock. Timing, breaks included, is covered on how long the STSC exam is.
You find out before you leave: BCSP gives you the result at the center right after you submit.
Where the STSC is delivered
BCSP lists computer delivery at Pearson VUE test centers, booked through your BCSP profile; the booking itself is on the scheduling sheet.
Employers in the U.S. have a second route. BCSP's Onsite Exam Delivery brings a proctored exam to a group of 5 to 30 candidates at a place the company chooses, booked at least 60 days ahead (as of October 2026).
Open book, results and testing from home
Is the STSC open book?
No. BCSP states that the exam is closed book and that accessing external reference materials during it is not permitted (Complete Guide, 12th ed., as of October 2026).
When do you get your STSC result?
At the test center, right after you submit. BCSP says results are given immediately (Complete Guide, as of October 2026).
Can you take the STSC online from home?
BCSP's STSC materials describe delivery at a Pearson VUE test center, plus employer-arranged Onsite Exam Delivery in the U.S. They do not describe an at-home option, as of October 2026.
